Thomas Waters 1871 .....

Post by Tom Waters » Sat May 27, 2006 6:32 am

I am trying to trace where my grandfather Thomas Waters came from in Ireland. His Marriage cert. says he was born 1871 to Thomas Waters, a farmer, and Mary Ann Harkins, widow. Mary's maiden name was Higgins.Mary had 2 girls to Patrick Harkins and 1 son,Thomas. When her husband died Mrs.Waters brought her 3 children to Govan, Glasgow. My grandfather died 1953 in Govan. I think he might have come from Sligo.

Hi Tom
..and a warm welcome to Talking Scot :D

It might be worth either getting in touch with GROS to see if they can locate your grandfather's death cert.
www.gro-scotland.gov.uk
or you may need to hire a researcher to go and find it, as it is later than the dates of the records available on line.
....not that this is going to help with his place of birth though! Someone who knows more about Irish research might be able to help with that one.

Best wishes
Lesley

Hi Tom,
I don't know if this is anything to do with your Thomas at all.
It's from the IGI (with possible transcription errors?).
But no harm in knowing of them.
