McKenna & Cooney marriage? .....

Post by Dennis » Sun Mar 27, 2005 6:34 am

Hello. This is a line I'm stuck at. From his 1871 census recs on SP they were from Ireland, he c1831 she c1841. They died in Scotland, she 1895 in Glasgow and he in Glasgow in 1875 from typhus. Can't find a marriage record for them tho, so I don't know where they married. Three (3) children were all born in Lanarkshire:

James 1860-61
Charles 1863-1935
Sarah 1867 - ? ( ran outta credits on sp for tonight

No sign of the parents' marriage on the online IGI, but it gave 5 children:

JAMES MCKENNA - Birth: 14 DEC 1860 High Church, Glasgow, Lanark
CHARLES MCKENNA - Birth: 15 JUN 1863 High Church, Glasgow, Lanark
SARAH MCKENNA - Birth: 17 OCT 1866 High Church, Glasgow, Lanark
FRANCIS MCKENNA - Birth: 04 MAY 1869 High Church, Glasgow, Lanark
WILLIAM MCKENNA - Birth: 02 DEC 1872 High Church, Glasgow, Lanark

The birth certificates apart from James of 1860 should say where and when the parents' marriage took place. This genealogically useful piece of information was seldom recorded between 1856 and 1860.

All the best,

Andrew Paterson

Thank you Andrew. The 2nd son, Charles, was the only one to have an actual life as the other 4 children had all died by 1875. As you noted, the parents marriage was noted on Charles' birth rec. as April 2, 1860 in Glasgow; could not locate a marriage rec on SP, but its good to have that info.
