I am trying to find my Italian gggrandfathers roots. He was born in italy about 1835. He is showing in the Scottish census as living in Glasgow and Edinburgh and possibly died in London in 1879. I have his marriage certificate to my gggrandmother which says his fathers name and mothers maiden name. One of the census states he was born in Parmoor Italy, I am assuming this is supposed to be Parma. I have tried to find immigration records but no success.

I have had the same problem as others in that all the information on the web is about Italians going to America.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello Helen,

Have you seen the site for the Anglo-Italian Family History Society and the others in the Europe sticky?

There are also a number of books on Italian immigration to Britain by Prof. Lucio Sponza. I think there’s reference to them somewhere on the above site.
