Free access to 19thC British newspapers - back in business!

Post by Chris Paton » Thu Mar 20, 2008 3:01 pm

I've posted this on the previous thread, but just in case you aren't checking it any more, thinking the access is a lost cause - we're back in business!

I've just received this from the Your Family Tree forum...

"Ok everyone, hopefully we can log on again to the free trial

The link to your Instant Trial is below. Click on, or cut and paste the link into your Web browser.

Once the page has loaded, bookmark it.

Good luck"

This has substantially more on it than the last link - it now includes British Newspapers 1600-1900 and The Times 1785-1985!

As before, best to get in and use it while you can! :)

Hi Tracey,

I've just checked and it is still working, but the log in details in the above post are not in the right order - try typing the field details in the following order:

I was able to look up an article about a trial for murder in 1826. The prisoner was transported for life. The article gave quite a few helpful family history facts
Anderson, McAlpine, Blue - Argyll
Dunn Fife /ML
Coutts, McGregor - Perth/Govan
Glen, Crow, Imrie - Angus
Scott & Pick ML
Mason - Co Down

Fab stuff, I now have my GGGG Grandfather recorded as having six wives at the same time as reported in the John Bull. The plot thickens....

Aw Shame!
Free Trial just expired on me! Was on earlier tonight but now won't let me in.
Thanks for the link all the same Chris, I didn't find anything but a relative in Australia had quite a bit of luck.
Couldn't see any Scotsman articles. I had been hoping to read more about my bigamy.
Cheers
