ScotlandsPeople Major Upgrade

Post by Montrose Budie » Tue Aug 31, 2010 5:51 pm

For anyone who has been reading the ScotlandsPeople User Group meeting minutes, and associated threads on this and other discussion groups, it will come as no surprise to hear that a major upgrade of the SP website will be launched early tomorrow morning (Wednesday 1st September), starting at 01:00 hours GMT; and hopefully completed in less than 10 hours; so that there will be no access to SP during the period required for the upgrade.

I can guarantee that you will love the various search engine upgrades.

But, knowing what computers are like, let's not be too upset if the site is down for a longer period !

Ha! I was one day early - hadn't been keeping up to date with what was going on, just popped in to have a look to see if they'd made the changes yesterday, was disappointed to see that it was still the same! Glad to hear they're on to it now!

I've just had a quick look - it looks a lot better! I've got no credits so haven't bothered to try the search out, but will do so in time. I like it - and I don't usually like it when websites change! The BBC is still in the doghouse as far as I'm concerned.

Andrew, I used the link on your post to access the site. So far it looks good. I then tried to login (from same location) without success. I closed the connection and reopened using my normal procedure and tried to login and got a message that I was logged in elsewhere. I then resarted computer and tried again with the same result.Any idea of what the problem is? I emailed SP and waiting for response

Just used up 5 credits accessing a very positive looking marine death register only to find the name that was supposed to be on it wasn't actually there! (transcription error obviously). When I tried to send them a message via the button on the page, the site locked me out. Still can't get back in - keeps telling me I'm logged in elsewhere. Closed page, reopened, still the same. Have emailed them (after going round in a bloomin' circle for 5 mins!). Hopefully they'll sort it 'within 24 hours' :?

I also am having the problem with being 'logged in elsewhere'! It happened after I had been away from the screen & the session had timed out. I relogged in successfully but then it said I was denied access to the OPR screen for some reason and since then I have not been able to log in. I have tried clearing cookies & even restarting my browser but at this point I am still not able to log in. I think they have enhanced their security but not got the logic quite right as yet. Annoying.
