Hi Angus, a few years down the track, but are you still looking at the Costellos from Coatbridge? I'm researching the same family and might be able to pass on some info if you're interested. Does anyone know who Rena Costello's parents were?

Hello and welcome to TalkingScot, Broomey68
As you indicated, it has been a number of years since a post was made to this discussion. The earliest post mentioned Rose Callaghan married James Costello. FamilySearch.org shows a number of 'James and Rose Costello' with innumerable children.
Perhaps, you may want to read through the previous posts to perhaps narrow down a time-frame. If that leads you information that may be after the TalkingScot guidelines on births no later than 1917, marriages no later than 1942 and deaths no later than 1967, then you may have to seek a public search engine such as Google, Yahoo, etc.
If it is a person earlier than those dates, you may have to search online at a pay per view database, several of which are mentioned in the previous posts. ScotlandsPeople will eliminate any records that would surface from any other countries, which would surface at commercial sites.
ScotlandsPeople birth records provide both parents' names, marriage date, maiden name and home address. Marriage records include both parties' full name, residence, ages and parents' names.
Hope this is of some help.
Frances
