The National Library of Scotland and the Internet Archive are at it again, furiously loading NLS material onto the IA site so that we can access it from home free of charge.

The latest offering is the Navy List and there are issues for both WW1 and WW2. These books contain “lists of Ships, Establishments, and Officers of the Fleet”. The officer lists include surname, initials, rank, seniority date, and where serving.

There are only about 15 books so far but it’s a work in progress and no doubt there are many more issues still to appear.

The WW1 and WW2 Army Lists are also available, around 200 books in total. http://www.archive.org/search.php?query ... publicdate

Hope that’s useful,
