Glasgow Transit system during ww2

Did your mother work for them during WW2, or was it later. Towards the bottom of this page there’s a picture labeled “Newly appointed GCT Conductresses, taking over the duties of male staff” with what presumably was the uniform at the time. http://glasgowtransport.co.uk/trams.html

Yes she worked on the trams for about 2 or so years during the war; it was that or join the women's auxilliary.

That film is great Alan - brought back some memories. My dad worked on the trams when I was born and by all accounts the news that I had arrived safely in to the world was spread by the bells of the trams in Govan.

Dennis - conductress is a bit posh - she would have been known as a Clippie.
