Mary Stewart of Appin born 1802
My GGG Grandmother was Mary Stewart of Appin ( born 1802 and died 13-9-1860 ) - married (3-8-1819) to Duncan MacColl ( 1791 died 7-4-1849) and whose children (some) emigrated to Australia and New Zealand in the mid 1800s.
While I have information generally on the MacColls - *****I do not have any on Mary Stewart`s family...can anyone help please !

Hello,
Do you have Mary's death certificate? If she died in Scotland her death registration ( being after 1855) should have details of her parents' names ( as know by the informant)
What other documents on the family do you have? Census records , marriage and death certificates?
If we know what you have we can help fill in any gaps.

Thank you very much for your advice- I have seemingly found ** 'the Death Certificate' - please see attached, now all I have to find out is where ( if at all ) they connect with the 'Stewarts of Appin' family, any ideas would be much appreciated. !

There is no attachment, Bruce,
Could you summarize the information you found on it? I'm assuming you downloaded the actual certificate from scotlandspeople.gov.uk
Best wishes,
Sarah

I will try again with the attachment, Plan B here are the details on the certificate;...
MacColl Mary- widow of a Farmer-1860 February thirteenth 9.00am Glasdrum Appin -sex F- age 58 years -Parents Names; Duncan Stewart Farm servant deceased - Flora Stewart Maiden name MacIntyre deceased- cause of death;Fractured ribs from a fall, eleven days certified Daniel Livingston Surgeon Duror who saw deceased on 2 February- Burial Place, Church yard of Appin as certified by John MacColl son - Signature John MacColl- Registered February 18th 1860 by Donald MacLeod Registrar
I hope this helps in seeing where this Stewart fits in ... possibly in the 'Stewarts of Appin' family.

Re: Mary Stewart of Appin born 1802
Good you found the official registration - much more reliable than going from gravestone inscriptions.
Now you have her parents' names you can look for their marriage.
seems from the Scotlands People index they were married in 1789 in Kilninver and Kilmelfort parish. Downloading that record may give you more information [ depending on the amount of detail that parish church recorded]
I'm not sure who or what you mean by 'Stewarts Of Appin' but looking back the old parish records for her parents details should give you a fuller picture of the family and where they lived.

Re: Mary Stewart of Appin born 1802
Thank you, that was most productive as I now have a Marriage Certificate for Dugald Stewart and Mary Stewart for 1767 which I assume are the parents of Duncan Stewart. I will attempt to post the partial Family Tree which was published in the Appin Historical Society Newsletter and sparked my original interest
Does anyone have any information connecting these ancestors to the Appin Stewart Family Tree... or are all Stewarts from Appin related ?
regards
Bruce
