Hi Marilyn and Kilearnan and thank you both for all your time and trouble, I never thought I would get this far with the Mcleans so fast.
Charles Mclane definately looks promising.
Now to wait for the marriages, to see if there is any forward line from Neal G. or Catherine.
Looking for their deaths is not so easy with such names.
Incidentally, for anyone looking in the Vital Records and who, like myself, hasn´t read the instructions, putting a maiden surname in as a first name gives all the combinations with the first name and married name.
Much gratitude,
Guid hunting,
Thrall

That's what we're all here for Thrall, to solve one mystery at a time. Glad we could help you along.
Could you post the city, date, vol & page number for Catherine & Mary, I'll need those to send for the records.
Regards
Marilyn

Hi Thrall,Hi Marilyn, thanks to you I have now found the deaths of two more Mcleans in Mass., Catherine Galbraith, and her daughter Mary P. Mclean.

Hi Marilyn, sorry I got carried away!
Catherine (Galbreith) Mclane d.1880, Salem, vol.319, pg.294
Mary P. Mclean d.1901, Salem, vol.516, pg.657
On a hunch, (you said you were allowed five look ups!), could you go for the other two death possibilities:
Charles M. Mclean Boston, 1910, vol.17, pg 472,
Neil J. Boston 1904, vol.7, pg.151.
Hope I´m not exceeding your quota here............
Guid hunting,
Thrall

I´m afraid that the only DC likely after this information so kindly offered by Killearnan is Charles Mclane plasterer d.1896 - I have not been able so far to identify his parents in Scotland, and with a hospital death perhaps there were no parents registered.
And there I was so sure of the Catherine Galbreith/Galbraith Mclean death; well, back to the drawing board....

Looks like this McLean family may not be so easily tidied up, to say the least.

All depending on who registered Charles's DC, hopefully the parents names will be on his DC. There's only one way to find out, so I'll send off for it in the morning.
