Hi Lesley

My Mom's family came from Ayr to Boston. Her Grandparents, aunts and uncles, in three different waves in the 1920s, came directly to Boston, from Greenock, Liverpool and Glasgow. I only mention this because Boston arrival records are on Ancestry too.

Only my mother and her parents came to New York through Ellis Island and then took a train to Boston.

As you probably know, we have quite a few members in and around Boston,
so surely you will have ample help once you have the details you want.

Happlily for me, my Nana moved her part of the family to California, so we only go back to Boston for visiting during the lovely parts of the year.
Its a wonderful city and area to visit. Now that I think of it, you should go do the research in person !

Hello Lesley,

There’s some useful info here. For some basics the newspaper searches may be worth a look. http://www.deathindexes.com/massachusetts/index.html

Don’t forget the Historical Newspaper Collection at Ancestry. There are some Massachusetts papers up to the 1970s but nothing specifically Boston. http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/ ... fault.aspx

Let me know if you want me to check these: Chicago Tribune, Christian Science Monitor, Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Washington Post.

Also Social Security Death Index, partial WW2 Draft and N.Y. Ellis Island arrivals are available at Record Search http://labs.familysearch.org/
