Hi John....was it that obvious???  You mean everytime I said "Wait!! You can't go!!" only to have you turning into the wrong lane and therefore making it ok!!! Like I said before...was very glad to be the passenger!!

Best wishes
Jean

If you are brave enough with roundabouts, try Paris, in particular the roundabout with the Arc de Triomphe in the middle. About 6 lanes wide with no apparent rules for entering or exiting the roundabout.

That's why I was glad to be a pedestrian there. Thank goodness for the underpasses to get you out to the Arc de Triomphe. God help anyone trying to cross the road through the traffic.

All the best,

AndrewP

I'm not that brave... I leave the Paris driving to my husband, who claims to enjoy it  I try not to look...

Never mind Paris! What about London? I have never driven through London, except from near the Dome to Canary Wharf.

At that time I was on contract in Canary Wharf and, to get back to Bristol on a Friday, I went in the wrong direction to get onto the M25, just to avoid driving the direct route to the M4.

Has to be the scariest place to drive, as far as I'm concerned. No quarter is given.

We thought the London drivers were remarkably polite, actually!

I hope wini doesn't mind that we are turning her post into "driving horrors we have known" ! Sorry! I've never been to Richmond... But look forward to hearing what there is to see!

I am relearning driving on the left hand side. The second time I took the car out, I turned out of a parking place onto the main road. It was only when I saw a line of cars coming towards me that I realised that I should have been on the left hand side and not the right. Glad I couldn't hear what the other drivers were thinking or saying about me.

Andrew

One of the advantages of driving round the Arc de Triomphe is that you don't have to stay in any particuler lanes! The roundabouts here in Britain are not my favourite thing especially if I haven't a clue where I want to turn off.

Hi all
After a holiday some years ago, I came back to Scotland having spent a week driving in Italy. I had to collect a friend from the nearest railway station the same evening and found myself turning in at the junction on the, er, Italian side of the road!!
Luckily it was evening, so fairly quiet ....and no one around to meet me in a head-on collision!!
I was amazed that the "brain washing" had been so successful!!
Best wishes
Lesley

Thank you all for your reassuring comments...

I just won't pass them on.

Traffic seems to be getting horrendous in most cities now.

Bankok I find un-nerving but everywhere I suppose is better than , say Baghdad, now that would be scary.

Maybe I will be able to send some Touristry things to do to all the USA residents in the next couple of months.

Thanks for that Marilyn,

Will pass it on.

He had a Sky Bed to L.A and managed to do some sight seeing on a 7 hour stopover.

Made it to his Hotel in Washington even ont he "wrong" side of the road.
Haven't heard from him but assume he is now in Richmond.

Will email him with websites
