Sarah:
Could be, all of the ages and dates surrounding this man are suspect, on the 1930 census he is listed as 32 years old married at age 25, this does not fit. On a imigration record from 1912, he is listed as age 31, his contact in Austria is wife Julia.

I did come across a registration card for Martin for the Armed forces, it lists his DOB as 11-11-1876 and he is age 41, . With wife Julia as nearest relative, this record is not dated but most likely from WWI, Im guessing about 1917 based on the given age.

Im at a loss where to go now for Polish/or Austrian vital records, I dont believe they are online, Im going to try good old snail mail.

Thanks for your help!
Karen

Karen,
I wish you luck with this mysterious character! If you find a forum dealing with Austrian or Polish genealogy, it would be worthwhile posting a question or two. I had very good luck the other day posting a question to a Netherlands message board. Several very nice people took time to look up records for me in Amsterdam!

All the best,
Sarah
