Hello again,
In one of the above posts its mentioned Polly as a diminutive of Mary . My great aunt was called Polly but christened Mary so I decided to have a look and see if I could find an explaination as to how this came about .It seems Polly is of English and Irish origins and is a varient of Molly which is a diminutive for Mary .All I know is Great Aunt Polly sure kept me busy trying to find her in the BMDs and Census
