Oh the things you find out in the last hours of a freebie time at Ancestry.com! I just did not get enough time to look for the people in this post so I am hoping someone can have a look for me!

Looking for my Joseph Carson b. 1880 Irvine. I found out through a ship's manifest (The Cameronia) that he went to the US in September 1923 with his wife Jessie M.S. Anderson (their sister in law Elizabeth Anderson m.s. Clelland was with them). All three state their age as 40 years. All three were born in Irvine Ayr Scotland. Jospeh states his occupation as Butler, but in Scotland 1901 census he was a Chemical Works labourer.

Joseph states that he had been in the US in 1905, Jessie in 1909 and Elizabeth in 1919. Now here is what I would like to find out:

* Joseph and Jessie probably married in the US between 1921 and 1923 as Jessie seems to have travelled in 1921 as a single woman. I can't recall how I discovered this, as it seems I may have forgotten to save THAT ship's manifest :( . Anyway I would like to find out if they DID marry in the US and when because I cannot find their marriage at SP.

* Since they both possibly lived in the US for some time before 1923, I would like to know if they are on the censuses for 1910, 1920 and 1930. I know they gave a address as 'home' on the 1923 manifest for Rahway New Jersey, but by 1941 they were living in New York City ( I found Joseph's WW2 registration card).

* I would like to know how to go about finding out when and where Joseph Carson and wife Jessie died (real name Janet) as I haven't investigated anything like that in the US before.

* I know Elizabeth's husband William Anderson was living in Rahway New Jersey in 1923, as that is where she was headed, but he had died in May 1929 New Jersey (I have a M.I. for him from Irvine - he was apparently shipped home for burial.) I would like to find out a bit about him and his wife. ( I think Elizabeth came back to Scotland and died in 1955. I have only paid for a one credit search however)

Any help appreciated!

Nina

Wow THANKS Nanwit!

That is a lot of information which would have taken you a considerable time to find, so I appreciate it very much! I don't suppose you saved all those certificates did you? And if so would you mind sending me them via email if I send you a private message with my address?

If those death registrations are Joseph's and Jessie's it is very sad, as it seems they weren't terribly well off, him not working and the fact that they died at youngish ages, especially Joseph as compared to the family back in Scotland. I could not connect to wwwnyc, so I will give ancestry a try.

Why would there be two ships entries for Jessie oin 1909? I did notice that one of them had her crossed out, so maybe her details had been accidentally transcribed twice?

And all the extra family! How wonderful! THANKS again....

Nina
