Looks like the plastic will take a bashing again - and it hasn't recovered yet from the OPR onslaught.

Hi Russell,

Well, I'm not sure if this is where to begin, but to follow up on David's suggestion for the Canadian Border Entry Records for 1895-1954.

PS..not sure of her status in 1930 yet but you'll note in 1920 she had applied for US Citizenship and it was pending.....hence the PA notation.

Ok Russell

Now it's time for your eyes to tell us if this might be her arriving on the Queen Mary in 1938. I would have supposed she might have been on a trip as nursemaid to her current charge(s) but unfortunately I'm not able to link her name on the the passenger list to a certain family...and that''s where you come in!!! Maybe she was retired by then and just off for a nice ocean voyage home??? I think it could be her. The following indexing from Ancestry indicates that her "friend" in the US is a Miss E. Morton (her sister perhaps?) But I don't see where the notation comes from on the original just yet!!!!! Anyhow...this does show her as a BRITISH nationality....and even gives a passport or Immigration Visa number which just might be able to be followed up on??!! The only snag is that she states she was born in Glasgow, Scotland. Any chance she would say this instead of Edinburgh?????

(another image on it's way)

Best wishes
Jean

Hi again Russell

It's Just Jean. Did you hear a noise a second ago?? It was me dancing this time. The last record I just told you about? It's her. Finally forwarded through all the backsides of the passenger lists to get to the other half (up 3...how tricky of them!)

(additional image on it's way)

You now will have the Street address of her home in Woodside....the fact that her apparently unmarried sister was living with her....the address of her brother in Fife....what else would you like to know?

Thanks for the challenge....

Best wishes
Jean

Does this mean that brother Jack took on his mother's surname? Or is this someone else? There are many, many, Jack and John MacKenzies on board ship, several born in Edinburgh... should I be interested in them?

Sarah
