Thanks for this! I had put a Missouri branch of my family on the backburner for awhile and hadn't noticed that the images had been put online in the meantime

Have been enjoying myself enormously today tracking down my great grandmother's siblings...
All the best,
Sarah

Probably just a cut-and-paste boo-boo, but just in case:
The domain should be
http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com
If you don't have the .com on the end, you will get a "domain ain't there" error.
Of course, you're probably just clicking on links and the links have the .com part in them...

Glad to help!
You probably already know but there are several databases on the Missouri Secretary of State (SoS) website:
Start at
http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/resources/resources.asp
scroll down to 'Online Resources'. You can also order copies of the documents. Collecting copies of primary resources has become kind of a sub-hobby for me.
By the way, mine are in Jasper (Joplin) and Boone (Columbia) county. Where are yours?

Already looked and downloaded a bunch

It sure is faster than trekking to the basement of the courthouse and sifting through the dust. But I do like that also

Mine never stay still (it's hereditary... see my "location")

So I'm looking in Livingston, Grundy, Vernon, Greene, Randolph, St Louis and anywhere else that looks likely

There are still some "lost years" that I'd like to fill in. There is a nice genealogy section to the library in Joplin-- I was there last year.

Sarah

You can also email the Joplin Library and they will search their indecies, or look things up for you. They found an article about
Hugh Dyer and Company Boiler Works that was founded about the time my GGGrandfather, Hugh Dyer, moved there. A later newsarticle (also found and sent by them) mentions Hugh Dyer of the Joplin Foundry.
Here is the link for anyone else who might be interested:
http://www.joplinpubliclibrary.org/
(click on contact us, look for 'Joplin History')
Webb City Library is also helpful, but not as responsive (less staff, I assume)

Sorry!
I can think of some things to try that might narrow down the source of the problem, but I'm not sure that knowing the source of the problem would provide a solution.
If anyone 'over there' is interested in pursuing this further, feel free to send me an email / PM.

Hi Haymarky
I'm at a loss to explain why exactly it is not working form here - must be something to do with the routes taken etc. Maybe a server is down somewhere along the line, or a router just not routin' the way it should?
If anyone 'over there' is interested in pursuing this further, feel free to send me an email / PM.
Thanks for the kind offer!
Best wishes

Hi all,
Just for the record, I have no trouble getting on the Illinois State Archives site, and I am more or less "over there" at the moment

Or is it over here?

Well, I'm closer to Scotland than Mark is right now

i.e., I'm in Belgium, which is just next door. So I don't know why you folks on the other side of the North Sea can't get it.
Regards,
Sarah

Hi All,
Mark very kindly tried to find out what the problem with the Illinois Archives was for me and unfortunately he never received a reply from them. I have however found out about a couple of sites that offer copies of certs and thought i would post these for anyone else who cannot access the Archives.
http://www.chicagogenealogy.com
http://www.mollx.com
there was also a link to the indexes from one of these sites but I can't find it at the moment.
