US Naturalization Records Indexes 1794-1995

Post by speleobat2 » Fri May 02, 2008 2:29 am

Hi all,

Received an update from Ancestry this evening saying that the U.S. Naturalization Records Indexes 1794-1995 were now available. If this is old news, I apologize.

These are mighty small pieces of paper, but I found both of my grandparents and one great aunt listed with their birthdates and date of naturalization.

Hi Anne,

No, unfortunately, the database is limited. It looks like about fifteen states are covered, but the records are from courts in those states so the information is regional. Say, if you lived in western Pennsylvannia, then the whole area is covered. Also, they aren't complete. I found information on both of my grandparents, but not for any of my great aunts or uncles, all of whom lived in the same area. Also, these are just indexes of the applications. They aren't the whole applications. I was able to get dates and places of application for my grand parents, but that was all. Still, that's something!
