Hi Maggie

Have you tried the Automated Genealogy site - www.automatedgenealogy.com . If you search the 1901 census for the surname Peach there are quite a number, including a Harrey Peach, aged 24 (d.o.b. 24/03/1876) in Ontario. I haven't gone through the full list of Peaches ( :!: ) but he looks a possibility - you could have a look at the census page & see if he fits. They also give a list of possible alternative names.

Thanks so much for the link Muriel. I managed to find part of my family that I knew were in Canada but could never find them on a census and when they immigrated and how many were born in Scotland and how many in Canada. Found them on the 1911 census living in Quebec (I only knew about them living in British Colombia).

Hi Maggie:

The only male Peach of the correct age:

http://automatedgenealogy.com/census/Vi ... ghlight=27

Province: Ontario District name: Perth North Subdistrict: Stratford Description: Hamlet Ward
Line 27 Peach, Harrey / Male / Boarder / Single / Birthdate March 24, 1876 / Age 24 / Country of Birth English / Racial origin English / Religion Methodist

I would say that the person responding to the census taker was not that familiar with Henry/Harrey as many responses are missing.

[woohoo] Here is his arrival record:

Thanks Andrew, I thought I had omitted the full stop but must have put it in automatically.

Glad others found the link useful, I've found a number of relatives who "disappeared" from Scotland.

Hello Frances
using Muriels link i was able to see the census for Henry it's interesting that you pointed out the informer didn't seem to know much about him i didn't pick up on that at all, i wonder if that was his new family
thankyou for the link to all the children who arived on the Parisian i will compare it with the 1891 census record of Middlemore home where all of the childen are listed as emigrant so obviously just waiting to move on to their new life.
I hope that Henry found a good life in Canada from googling some of the stories behind the children who went where really sad both before leaving England & afterwards I know some of his half siblings went on to have good lives.
I have applied to Birmingham archives to see if any record exists of his admissison /time spent in there.so fingers crossed when they clear their backlog as the email response put it i will find out more .
I'm going to try to find him in the 1911 census i tried Ontario this afternoon before going to work with no joy so i will go throughthe rest of the states over the weekend.
kind regards
maggie

Hi Maggie,
I was looking through some old posts and wondered if you ever found him in 1911. I didn't, but I found him crossing into the U.S. in 1915 at Detroit, Michigan, still there to fill out a WWI Draft card, and still there in the 1920 census. Then I lose him... If you don't already have them, I'd be glad to give you the details.
All the best,
Sarah
