Isabella Donald Gibson

Hi All,

I've uploaded a section of a passenger list showing Isabella D(onald) Gibson arriving at Canada.

http://talkingscot.com/gallery/displayi ... ?pos=-1723

I'd like to learn more about her life in Canada but haven't a clue how to go about it. Her destination address is very difficult to make out. Are there census records for 1930? Would I be able to find out if she married?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Annette

I read
405 Victoria Ave
Windsor Ontario

Windsor is located across the border from Detroit Michigan.

Hi Annette,
The most recent Canadian census available is 1911, so well before Isabella's arrival. Unfortunately, she just misses getting included in the other online records (at least those I know about on Ancestry.com). She seems to have been going to settle in Ontario. The online Ontario marriage records only go up until 1924 :( The online Ontario death records stop at 1934... thankfully, she seems to have lived beyond that date! Perhaps some of the Canadian TS members can direct you to site that might have more recent information.

Cheers,
Sarah

Hi Annette:

I read it as: Mrs. H. Paulin, 405 Victoria Ave., Windsor, Ontario, which is in Essex County. The Windsor phone book has several Paulin listings.

I checked the Ontario place index and the only other place names that I could possibly suggest are: Wiarton, Wicklow, Wildfield, Windham, Winger or Wingham.

There are addresses of 405 Victoria Ave. in Windsor and in Winger (south east of Niagara Falls)

The BMDs are held by Ontario Archives and are rather expensive. There may be something in the Windsor Public Library or the Essex Genealogical Society that may be of help

Hope this is of some help,

Hi All,

Sorry about late response but I had some computer problems - kept getting logged out while trying to post. It seems to have fixed itself now. :D

I thought the place was Windsor.

Thanks a lot for your input and pointers, I'll let you know if I get anywhere.

Regards,
Annette
