start looking for an in-law rellie who emigrates to the US back in the 1920s.
I have her and her family on the 1930 census, but is there any way I can search for a death, or marriage of her daughter?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Miss Poohs,
If you have a subscription to Ancestry you should be able to find it their. Alternately, there is always the LDS site, but I don't know much about when their US BDM is up to.

Hi Miss Poohs,
It all depends on which state they were in, as the availability of BMD records varies enormously from one to another. There is no centralized system. If you give some more details, I can try to help. Must confess though, I have often ended up having to travel to the state and go in person to their archives... but more and more can be done over the web, so perhaps there's hope!
All the best,
Sarah

Thank you everyone.
The people I'm looking for are Peter, Kate and Jean Dewar.
I have them on the 1930 census living in New Jersey, Union County in the town of Elizabeth.
Peter gives his age as 35, Kate 36 and wee Jean is 13. They were all born in Scotland.
I'll have a look on those sites, but I'd really appreciate some help if anyone can spare the time.
Many thanks.
