Boston Passenger lists
http://www.sec.state.ma.us/arc/arcsrch/ ... tents.html
Boston Passenger lists 1848 - 1891 are now listed online at Massachusetts State Archives.
This is an ongoing project and as yet, far from complete.

Good starting point for research especially for Ellis Island passenger research. Helps you to find images of passenger records that were indexed incorrectly or missing when searching from the www.ellisisland.org web site.

There are search engines to search multiple websites for
ships going to Canada at:
http://olivetreegenealogy.com/ships/sea ... nada.shtml

They include most ships lists on the Internet going to Canada and the online InGeneas databases for immigration to Canada 1800s.

The Hawke Papers, letterbooks of Chief Emigrant Agent
Anthony B. Hawke are also available at the Archives of
Ontario. They cover the years 1831 to 1892. See the
searchable database at

The Atlas of Canada's Gazetteer Map Service offers direct access to the Atlas of Canada's Find a Place maps. URL links to maps showing the location of 47 000 place and geographical feature names. The complete database can be searched at: http://atlas.nrcan.gc.ca/site/english/d ... tteer.html

A helpful link from the above, allows for searching place names, current and former, which is very helpful where name changes or amalgamations have taken place. Also very helpful in relating towns, villages, townships etc. to the larger districts and townships.
