Library and Archives Canada some updated sources .....

Post by paddyscar » Mon Oct 30, 2006 9:32 pm

Updated October 20, 2006, the Library and Archives Canada site MOVING HERE, STAYING HERE. The Canadian Immigrant Experience includes "Find an Immigrant" and "The Documentary Trail" and "Traces of the Past". This online exhibition provides updated databases and new links and sources at:http://www.collectionscanada.ca/immigrants/index-e.html

The 1925 - 1935 Immigration Records Index at http://www.collectionscanada.ca/archivi ... 802_e.html allows wildcard and boolean [and/not/or] searching with the following terms:

Surname:
Given Name:
Year of Arrival:
Port of arrival:
Ship:

Also http://www.collectionscanada.ca/canadia ... dex-e.html City, business and trade directories offer a lot of information to genealogists. Although most of these older directories focussed on the males, single women were listed and widows were named along with reference to their spouses.
