Last and First..

The last baby born in Boston, Massachusetts in 2006 was a girl. She weighed one pound, fifteen ounces. Officially recorded at 11:58 PM 31 December 2006. Her prognosis is very good.

The first baby born in Boston, Massachusetts in 2007 was a boy. He weighed two pounds, seven ounces. Officially recorded at 12:00 AM 1 January 2007. His prognosis is also very good.

What makes their births note worthy is that they are sister and brother. Future genealogists will definitely be double checking primary source information when they read their family group sheet.

Sadly, not far away from where the twins births took place, Boston registered its first murder of 2007. A fourteen-year-old boy died of gunshot while celebrating New Year's Eve outside his aunt's home. Police say the shooting was not random…

It's also very nice to send you a Happy New Year greeting as well. How interesting about the twins (and I do hope they continue to thrive!)...but how tragic about the teenager. News is like that isn't it?

A Happy New Year To You!

I have a similar set of circumstances in my Morning family. Inez Nelson Morning (I've no idea where the name Inez came from?) was born at 11:56 and her twin sister, Ann sometime after midnight. The twins were premature and Inez passed away 10 minutes after birth. The Vital Records for Grafton, Massachusetts were destroyed in a fire and there isn't a trace of any official registration of the births, at the Massachusetts State Archives. So I only have these bare facts, along with Ann's birthdate off her tomb stone to confirm this very sad discovery.
