I have a copy of some articles regarding the Reid and Anderson families that went to Canada in 1926. Which I will upload.

Would be most interested in hearing from anyone that has any connection with any of the families.
My connection is with the Reid family.
Regards
Donna

Hi Donna
Sorry to get your hopes up, but I have no connections with the families you are researching.
At the moment though, I am reading a well-written and interesting book about a weaving family's life in Blackburn , before they emigrated to the USA. "The Road to Nab End" by William Woodruff. You may appreciate the background information it gives about life in the town.
Best wishes
Catriona

Just to avoid any confusion, Donna and yourself are discussing different Blackburns. The "Boat People" left Blackburn in West Lothian, but The Road to Nab End is about Blackburn in Lancashire. Still interesting, but a different town.
It's an easier assumption to make - I grew up in Blackburn [West Lothian!] and we would often get mail on which someone had scrawled "Try Scotland!"
There's recently been a book published called "Blackburn: West Lothian's Cotton and Coal Town", which describes its development (rebuilt twice!) and the reliance on the Mills and Mining industries and outlines the problems that Blackburn (in common with many small towns across the Central Belt) suffered with the end of these industries - I don't think it's got anything in it about the boat people, though!
Best wishes
Brian
