Daisy as a pet name

Post by Allison » Mon Jan 15, 2007 5:35 pm

Good afternoon everyone.
I have someone in my family who is called "Daisy" but I can't find her anywhere. So I'm wondering what Daisy would be a pet name for normally. Any and all suggestions appreciated.

I'm in classes at St. Michael's College, Cardiff until Jan. 18th before returning to Canada so won't be able to respond as quickly as normal. Thanks for all you help.

Hi Allison

My Auntie Margaret was called Daisy - as was her great friend (who was also a Margaret).

Trust this helps.

Allison,

I might be suggesting something you've already considered, but have you tried other spellings? My grandmother is called DAISIE and this is her registered name.

Best wishes

Hi
She wasn't a tenth child, by any chance, was she.

I have a Dessie (Decima) pronunciation/mishearing could then explain Daisy.
I'm a Cousin - are you? http://www/LostCousins.com

Hi
My Nana was known as Daisy, but was really a Margaret. She was from the Caithness area if that helps.

 Now, don't all jump on me for being a clever clogs, but the herb Margaret latin name Bellis perennis (Daisy to us ordinary mortals) was Dedicated to St. Margaret, of Cortona.

Hence a lot of Margarets being called Daisy.

There are also a lot of Pearl ladies out there, proper name Margaret, so called because the name means Pearl.

Can't take all the credit!

My Great Grandmother, Grandmother, Mother and sister are all Margarets :D and my Gran told us all this many years ago (don't ask how many years, but I had my last "current female" working age birthday yesterday  ).

Me, I'm just plain Mary

Yes, Daisy is a common pet name for those called Margaret. Isn't there a flower called a margeuritte, which is a kind of daisy?

My great aunt Georgina Frances Oman was always called 'Daisy'.
My grandmother could never explain why :-k

But then another sister, Mary-Ann, was always called 'Polly'
