Seeking roots for William Francis McDewell, Glasgow, who emigrated to Boston early 1800's, and was a partner with B. F. Adams in the firm McDewell & Adams, grocers, Tremont Street, Boston, MA.

Can you tell us where you have looked for him so far? I may be wrong here, but I wonder if his roots furhter back perhaps lie in Ireland - just guessing from the name. Do you know if he married in Scotland before he left for America?
