Don't the police take an interest in these people who post porn to sites like this (I'm assuming from the titles that that's what they are, as I never click on them). We seem to have had what a friend always refers to as a plerotha of them lately.

The problem is firstly finding them, and secondly, you can rely on the host ISP being in a country such as Russia, Macedonia, etc., etc., i.e. where the UK police or even InterPol have little or no authority.
The reality is that it's down to the Admin Group and Moderators to take action as soon as the next one pops up, by moving the objectionable posts to a hidden forum by the name of "Quarantine", where the posts will be reviewed by an AdminGroup member, and, in the case of blatant porn posts such as in the case of Abaeormenlem28 this morning, deleted as soon as the details have been recorded.
So why do we record details if the police can't do anything effective? Simply because it allows us to compare origins, and where applicable block access to SP for individuals and/or ISPs.
I wish that there was an easier way, but experience in over 2 years tells us otherwise.
I'd certainly have preferred to use the last 15 minutes for other tasks

Eternal vigilance is the only answer

Hi Muriel,
Yes, we have had a number of recent dubious new members trying to direct us to their (presumed) porn websites and the like. They keep the moderators and admins busy removing them.
Unfortunately the internet is almost impossible to police. How do you decide which country's laws to apply? That is only one of the difficulties this issue raises.
All the best,
AndrewP

Hi All
I received another 'Topic Reply Notification' email today but it did not look familiar so I deleted it straight away. I knew if it was genuine I would find it when I logged in to search new posts. As David says we must all be vigilant.
A big thanks to the Admin group for being on their toes =D>
Cheers

For some reason, of the four posts made by our newest numptie "friend" Abaeormenlem28, 2 were as new threads, and two as new posts in existing threads, one the latter of which presumably led to the 'Topic Reply Notification' to Annette.AnnetteR wrote:Hi All

I was unfortunate to click on a link to the latest scam post, as I have had problems with an active x programme on another site. It took me hours to get rid of the unwanted links to anti spyware and the like programmes. The insidious thing even hijacked my browser. Dont ask me why I clicked on the link, I dont know and it is not something I usually do.
As you said "eternal vigilance"
