Identification for travel question

Post by delmarco » Fri Feb 16, 2007 6:00 pm

I forgot to ask the second part of my eariler question, what if any identification would have been used for traveling to the States or Canada?

It has been thought in the family that Roseanne could have used a different name, could this have been possible?

Karen

From what I just read it would seem passports as we know them were only introduced about 1914 at the beginning of WWI. I would assume that if you had a valid ticket for the voyage, that was sufficient identification, which would leave it open to using any name you liked on the ticket.

Google History of Passports for more information from different government sites. :D

Just think of the people switching tickets only 2 years before on the Titanic in 1912.No mention of any id.
