NZ Shipping Lists

Post by trish1 » Wed Dec 17, 2014 1:30 pm

I may well be the last person to find this - but if anyone else has missed it - Family search now has NZ shipping lists - including images - online.

And - I instantly found the first 2 folks I looked for :D :D

Hi Trish,

It's always a good idea to keep checking Family Search, since they keep putting up more things without much fanfare. Many of the most useful records to me are now browsable there, although not searchable and I have a grand old time slowly reading through the records of a particular time and place.

Glad you found some useful info right away!

[cheers]

The ones I found are indexed Sarah - and the most delightful 100% readable script - there is a summary at the end of the shipping list of interest

1. Totals by age/sex/marital status
2. By Trade & Occupation
3. By country & county of the Emigrants

Even before the age of computers we were documented and cross referenced according to government categories

Greetings Trish.

People today seem to know nothing about the former low-tech, punch cards, and other methods of physically sorting data, yet in Scotland, when it came to loom work, and music, they had it down to a very fine art indeed.

Alan SHARP.
