Is 1957 too recent to search for a rel that moved there from Glasgow?

If they moved to Victoria you could try http://www.naa.gov.au/the_collection/recordsearch.html
Also if they died in Victoria the online indexes go up to about 1985

Hi Dennis,
I've been in & out of it over the last couple of days and it's been OK; sometimes it's a bit slow. I don't think it will help anyway. I checked the information they had on immigrants. It said most of their immigration records were from 1901 to 1945 and concerned non-British migrants as immigration legislation of the time was primarily concerned with the restriction and regulation of non-British immigration.
The Australian phonebook is www.whitepages.com.au if you haven't tried that.
Regards, April

searches in Australia
Dennis and others
Sometimes, if you know the area they lived in Australia you can check out electoral rolls or post office directories.
If you know of someone in Australia who can check them for you, it's the only way because they are not online.
I would offer, but at the moment I'm overworked with my University studies, but if I find out a web site I'll post it.

Another useful site
Looking for deaths in New South Wales, Australia
try
http://www.rootsweb.com/~nswsdps/dpsindex.htm
(sorry don't know how to paste in the link?)
This is for the Ryerson Index - it is death notices in various newspapers.

Are two posts merged together here?
Slightly confusing
<post has now been moved to its own topic - Lesley, TS moderator>
There are two Thomas Lennox listed on the archives as coming to Australia post WWII as assisted immigrants but neither quite fit the dates as given.
LENNOX Thomas George born 5 June 1941; travelled per ORCADES departing UK on 9 August 1964 under the Assisted Passage Migration Sch
LENNOX Thomas Mackenzie born 31 December 1936; travelled per STRATHNAVER departing Tilbury on 7 December 1961 under the Assisted Passage Migration Scheme
Re Gilbert
Do you know where he returned to after his army service? I cannot find a burial record for him in Toowoomba or Brisbane. Qld BDMs are only on fiche post 1914. Deaths are available until 1960 but only at Family History Centres and libraries. The naa site has died (as it does often) so I can't at the minute look to see if there are any details on his war record that may help to find him.
