It includes old maps and photographs and some handy links for anyone interested in the Anderston district of Glasgow. Excellent work Mr. Cooper.

an old man down from me came from that area , turned out his house was almost over from the house my Mother lived at in Hill Street ,
you can see a shop on the right hand side and he lived just before that ,and my Mother over the road ,
i enjoyed the read

I found this site just last week when I was trying to locate the church I was christened in.

We lived in Warroch Street when I was born, and handwritten on my birth certificate was the name of the church and the ministers name. I was thrilled to find it on page 38 with a brief history and photo taken the year I was christened there. It also gave the minister's full name where I only had his initials on my birth certificate. Another mystery solved.

Does anyone know what the church on the corner of William St and North St, Anderston is called? Or whether it's Church of Scotland? And is there a graveyard attached to it?

My 3x great grandmother, her daughter and granddaughter all died in Sharps Lane, Anderston in the 1870s. I'm pretty sure none of them will have a headstone but, if it's Church of Scotland, they're likely to have all been laid to rest there, in common graves no doubt, being the nearest to where they lived.

(Sharps Lane was later called Warp's lane, before it disappeared completely to make way for the M8. I now believe it to be the little nubin at the end of Argyll St, at the back of the Mitchell library. I have a map of the period when it was Sharp's lane if anyone's interested).

i was wondering what cemetries would be local to hill street as know a Sister of my Mums would be buried there probably between 1901- 1907 i think , havent found her death as so many with the same name
be grateful for any ideas

I came across this about a year ago while looking for info on my gran,she was born at 67 elliot street anderston in 1870.I noticed that Elliot street was next to the steamie and wondered if it was demolished or is it still there.Marguerite
