West Yerbert??, Argyllshire

Post by karenwalker » Tue Nov 09, 2010 12:41 am

Hi can anyone tell me if this is a place in Argyll or if it could be a transcription error. I have my 3rd great grandmother, Agnes Carmichael, on an 1851 census which states she was born around 1791 in West Yerbert, Argyllshire but have googled it and nothing even similar has come up. Any help would be appreciated to help me trace her birth. Many thanks to you all in advance.

Hi Karen,

Could it possibly be West Tarbert? That's in Argyllshire and seems like a likely one to have been mistranscribed like that.
