Hi Sarah that is the site and yes that is the cert I'm interested in but it is not bring up a yr for the marriage that is what I needed checked so I emailed them to see if they could tell me the yr for that marriage & that's when they sent me an email saying what they would charge for the search on the family all I wanted was the yr of that marriage before I ordered it I don't mind paying $30-00 AUS if it's the right 1

Hello Natae,
The impression I get from all this is that the organisation that has managed to gain possession of the Registers intends to keep a tight grip on the information in them. It would be nice if they gave some inkling as to the information they contain, whether they’re the same as the OPRs and so on. Maybe if they gave away the year of marriage there would be nothing much left to offer.
There’s supposed to be a CD but I couldn’t easily find anything about it being for sale of if it was available in libraries etc. If you live near a large library you could make enquiries there but I don’t like your chances. Failing that, possibly the only way you’re ever likely to find out if it was in 1846 is to spend the cash.
I wonder where the real residents of Gretna Green married, maybe they skipped across the border into England just to get away from it all. I googled “Gretna Green CD” and all I got was a Border Collie somewhere in OZ
All the best,
Alan

Hi Alan thanks for your reply will keep looking maybe something will turn up I understand that alot of work goes into genealogy and alot of money (my hubby reckons he should own half of the NSW BDM I have so many AUS certs) but I don't understand why some of these places are so greedy it's just a yr I don't need parents names or anything like that would just like a marriage record with their names and date they could atleast send me a email saying no they wont tell me they just didn't bother after I emailed them back explaining I only needed the yr not the whole family history Well thanks again
