Hi Andrew.
Duelly noted.
I have transcribed them the best I can.
The originals are of extremely poor quality

(apologies for hijacking the thread)
I had a stormy crossing this morning from South Island to North Island. I am now in rainy Wellington.

I am having a great adventure, but am now finding that 14 days in NZ is not going to be enough, but it will have to be all on this trip. I will need to come back again in a few years in your summer time.

All the best,

AndrewP

Janet Callendar

Post by nelmit » Tue Jul 18, 2006 10:56 am

Hi Baldy,

Could this be Janet's birth? It would fit with the 1861 age and the Robert living with them in 1851.

JANET CALLENDER
Female

Birth:
Christening: 12 MAR 1813 Holywood, Dumfries, Scotland

Parents:
Father: ROBERT CALLENDER
Mother: JANET LORIMER

Have you checked SP deaths for parents' names?

Regards,
Annette M

Hi Annette.
Thanks for the reply.
I have the registration for her death. She died 26 September 1886 aged 76.
It shows her mother as Mary Callendar nee'Manson

Here is where I am becoming confused;I have seen the information that you sent, and wonder how is possible that it gives the mother as Janet Lorimer ???

Perhaps just another BRICK in the wall to try and see why ??/

Hi Baldy,

Excuse me for butting in to this thread but I just wanted to ask what was the informant's name, and his/her relationship to Janet Callendar on the death certificate. Could he/she been unsure of who her parents were ?
As far as I can tell, they were Robert Callendar and Janet Lorimer who were married on 24 Jan 1798, Balmaclellan, Kirkcudbright.

Isles.

The informant was Ebenezer Beattie her son,he was present at the time of her death.
Her death was certified by Dr P Murray.
