My own lot are all fairly conventional names, but I often wonder what this guy was called for short?
Onesiphorus Tyndall-Bruce
His statue can be seen at Falkland, Fife.

Aaack, Jean!! I'm glad my Quaker ancestors had the sense to sail to Philadelphia instead of New Hampshire  out of reach of your grandpa Nutter!

David WW wee Theo- I reckon as she couldn't give him his Father's name
she decided to give him one that was unforgetable or she had been reading a book & fancied the name.
To me it reads like some kind of a protest against the system-"He may be illegetimate but everybody will remember him"
If the poor wee soul had made it to school how much do you bet he would have called himself Teddy or even Theodore??

That's what I thought Joette. He might be illegitimate but everyone is going to know who his father is (if they were the father's family names i.e. father might have been the employer).

David & Jean

Never really doubted you for a minute  but they make all mine quite dull. I thought my Dad having three forenames bad enough but nothing compared to that lot.

I have noticed quite a few people being called after the place they were born or conceived.
Like the Beckham’s son, Brooklyn.
Here are a couple on that very theme.
Behinthebikeshed McKenzie
Queensparkbushes McKinnon.
Millersbackdunny Finnegan

Wee Armand (as she refered to him) died in 1871. (I've just noticed you found that David)

Going back to Wini's original list, Adelaide was quite popular with my Suffolk lot as was Mahala which id never heard of.
Toddles is the oddest name and i think one of the nicest is Alexina, another one id never heard of till i started this.
Scotland - Donaldson / Moggach / Shaw / Geddes / Sim / Gray / Mackie / Richards / Joel / Coull / Mckimmie / Panton / McGregor
Ireland and Scotland - Casey / McDade / Phillips / McCandle / Dinely / Comaskey + various spellings
