Hi,

Royal Terrace is a Georgian Terrace, quite high round the side of a hill, with large houses on one side only, overlooking Leith.

Most of the houses are now hotels.

A "google" might find you some photographs of some of the bigger hotels to give you a feel of how the street looks. "Bigger" just means spread across more of the houses.

To see an online photo of Royal Terrace:

http://www.streetsofedinburgh.co.uk/Royal%20Terrace.htm

This guy has been round many parts of Edinburgh taking photos and putting them online - other streets found by his alphabetical index.

The hotel's own website is http://www.adriahotel.co.uk/index2.html and there are a few pictures of the building there.

All the best,

Andrew Paterson

Thanks, Andrew for that site. I've just spent an enjoyable moment visiting some of my old haunts. :D

Best wishes

Hi dstew

Can't help with living relatives. Except I suppose these two Rodericks were my Granfather's nephews or my father's cousins  :!: but I have the following ------

Daniel Stewart m Janet/Jessie McQueen 18 Aug 1871 at Shotts Lanarkshire

Children

1. Roderick Stewart- born 15 Dec 1872 m Elizabeth Clelland 1895
Roderick Stewart born -17 July 1903

2. Daniel Stewart born 29 Dec 1874 m Hannah McCrorie 30 July 1897
Son - Roderick Stewart born 2 Sept 1902 (This is your Roderick)

Presumably there are more children

The Cleland line is my interest so have gone no furthur with the Stewarts
However all this info and more can be found on SP and IGI

Good luck

Aileen
Researching:- Cleland, McPhee, Robertson
in West Lothian, Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire.
