John, try laggan.com for the Laggan website, you want the Laggan Heritage Society. Elderly natives with local knowledge are now few and far between so don't hang about.

Johnnie,

I have been to Laggan many times and know the area well.
Very few Locals have the knowledge I am looking for.
I know the houses and who lived in them and the villages which are now only mounds in the heather.
And graves which have no stones, even a church which is not even on the OS Map.
What I need is some one to fill in the gaps I have.

John, re' old kirkyard. Do you mean St Michael's, at the Bruach Mor on Coul farm, north of the Spey. I believe this dates back almost to St Columba?
You're right about local knowledge, one of the oldest residents, who farmed Blargie, died a couple of months ago.

Johnnie.

Johnnie,

Yes you are right, locals have the best information.

I am sad to hear Mr McDonald of Blargie has passed away, he must have been a good age.
He was one of the last to come from Crathie.
I never did get to speak to him.
My family are connected to Blargie farm and the "Tim House".

Yes, St. Michael,s over the bridge at Bruach Mor is hard to find.
One (at least) Grave of McKillops is at St. Kenneths but there may be more.

You know the area well.

Hi Pete and John

My wife's family is connected to the McKillops - Anne visited the Faircloughs in NZ in 1976, and thoroughly enjoyed her time there. A C McKillop was of course one of the six McKillop children of Donald McKillop b 1843.

Pete - hope you are still active on this bb so we can make contact and share information.

Stuart
