What's in a name?.....

Post by katye » Fri Sep 30, 2005 6:26 pm

While doing some research into my great Grandma's family, the McLartys, I came across the name LOVEDY. Has anyone come across the name before or is it a typo made when the info was transcribed?

N.B. This was a first-born child.

Hi,

Google for Lovedy and you get 883 hits. Google for McLarty Lovedy and you get about 8.

What a Lovedy name

I was shocked by finding "Flower" as a common name in a certain church in the 1800's..... they must have been very hip people!

As well as Googling, I'd also suggest that you have a look at the various datasets on the www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk site in terms of the surname
LOVEDY and possibe variants, most probably covered via a wildcard search term as L*D* .............
