Hi Everyone,
I am researching my family tree and struggling to cross reference and to an extent confirm my findings.
I have became stuck on a William Leckie who was a weaver. I have a record of him marrying a Margaret Liddell in 1827 in St Ninians. However there are no parents details and is simply 1 line on a register.
This is the only record of him that I am sure is actually him and not another William Leckie which to my surprise turns out to be quite a few all in the same area. I have found 3 possible sets of parents for him.
James Leckie + Ann Reid - Cambusbarron 1805
John Leckie + Janet Menzies - Campsie 1808
Andrew Leckie + Elizabeth Yuill - Kippen 1802
If anyone is able to point me in the right direction or have any information on any of the above or anyone else remotely linked to them would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Scott

Re: Leckie family tree
If you certain that the Leckie / Liddle marriage is your man then one way of finding your man is to look for his wife's death.
If she is a widow or wife of on her Death certificate then you have a time scale to search for his death , the entry for that should confirm his parents names [if they were known correctly by whoever registered his death]
There is a Margaret Liddle/leckie death in Alva [stirling] in 1864 on Scotlandpeople.
This looks like them in 1851 :
There is a death of a William Leckie aged 57 mothers surname REID in Alva in 1862 - that would tie in with the age given on the 1851 census.
Hope this sets you along the right track.

Re: Leckie family tree
Many thanks Wilma, you have been a great help.
I managed to check the death records for them both and they seem to check out. I have since managed to go back a further 2 generations I believe with confidence are the right lineage. Potentially another generation back also.
Hopefully over time I will manage to find out more information and more links to them all.
Kind regards
Scott
