Bishopton convent

Post by jones84000 » Wed Nov 06, 2019 2:00 am

Hello All

I am trying to trace my mother in laws biological parents.
She was born on the 30th of March 1969 to a mother who was in Bishopton convent.

She was adopted by an Irish couple with the surname Kelly and taken back to their hometown of Wrexham, North Wales, and was temporarily in the care of Nazareth House where the nuns looked after her until the adoption was finalised.

Her step fathers brother by the name of Monsenior Canon Kelly at the time was involved in the process.

She is desperately unhappy after losing her partner of 30 years to cancer last week and to fine them or any relations would reignite her world.

If anybody knows of any information or knows of any records that may be accessible I would be extremely grateful.

Thank you all
Richard

Hello Richard, and Welcome to TalkingScot.

This NRS page contains information about Scottish adoptions. The link there to the Adoption page has information about reunions. https://www.nrscotland.gov.uk/research/ ... on-records

Sometimes sites like Genes Reunited can be useful. https://www.genesreunited.co.uk/

I hope this works out well for both of you.

All the best,
Alan

Hi
The ‘Sister of the Good Shepherd’ managed a convent/children’s home in Bishopton, in the 1960’s......I believe they have some offices in London these days and should still be contactable. Birthlink is another very good organisation that you should try.......they’re excellent.
Good luck......hope this is useful.
David
