I am part Scottish(I guess I have that in common with the Loch Ness monster, lol), but I've never been to Scotland. My dream is to travel there and learn about the culture. Also, I would love to travel around the world. I am particularly interested in Loch Ness. I love the mystery and the stories that have been told for a long time.

We are primarily a family history group, but also have a great love of our country [whether we are still resident or no].

You'll find lots of Stories about Scotland and the Scots in the forum sections "My Scotland" and " The Hearthside".
Currie also often posts amusing snippets that he has discovered in old newspaper archives.
You'll discover that humour is a large part of the Scots nature.

We may be a very small country, geographically, but there is a broad sweep of differences in the various parts of the country - for instance our accents can differ in the matter of ten miles or so, and in effect we speak different languages at times.

A good way of getting to know a country is to have a look at a good map. Google is a great start and the National Library of Scotland has old/modern overlay maps [ https://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/#zoom=5 ... yers=1&b=1 ] which show the differences over time.
If you know where your Scots forbears came from, that's a good place to start.
