Hi James
I had a quick look on SP and these 4 Alice Dicks turned up:
1 1904 DICK ALICE, F, HUTCHESONTOWN GLASGOW CITY LANARK 644/11 1533
2 1904 DICK ALICE, F, ST ANDREW DUNDEE CITY ANGUS 282/04 0965
3 1904 DICK ALICE MARY RITC, F, MAINS ANGUS 307/01 0080
4 1895 DICK MARGARET ALICE, F, BLYTHSWOOD GLASGOW CITY LANARK 644/07 0172
However, there is also one Alison:
1899 DICK ALISON WRIGHT F DUNFERMLINE FIFE 424/00 0215
who I think looks worth following up given her middle name?
I looked from 1895 - 1904. I have several marriage records where the bride has "knocked a bit" off her age so was trying to take this into account. I take it you have seen all of the above? I've not looked at them as as I'm bit short of credits and trying to make them last! But you may have checked all these out already?
I'm interested in your Alice Dick as I have Dicks in my tree, David is a "family" name and "my" Dicks have connections with both Fife and Midlothian where you think your Alice may have ended up. Do you know anything more about your David Dick?
Best wishes
Lesley

Hi again James
Couldn't resist burrowing deeper. Wave certain names around in front of me and its hopeless...
Anyway I looked for a marriage of David Dick to a Margaret Wright but nothing there. However, there is a marriage of a David Dick to an Alison Wright, High Church, Glasgow City in 1862 which is interesting....if a bit earlier than I thought it would be so maybe its a bit off track? also his occupation doesn't quite add up - this one's a mason, so maybe they are nothing to do with yours.
...butif this David who married Alison is your David (a bit of cross checking would be required) then I'm familiar with his parents James Dick and Isabella Roxburgh and can give you some info on the family.
As an interesting after thought: I coudn't help but check a death of an Alison Dick, other surnames, Hunter & Wright, who died in Dunfermline 1914 aged 76 - she is the same one who was married to David Dick above, and her father was a weaver. Interesting that she should be making the same west to east movement that you thought your younger Alice had made.
The dates still bother me on this one though - m. 1862, dau. born 1899? Not impossible but stretching it a bit.
Ahh, its hopeless, can't resist. Checked birth of the Alison born Dunfermline and it appears the above parents do not belong to her - parents given as David Dick, cloth lapper, and Margaret ERSKINE.
The one Alison Dick born 1899 DUNFERMLINE FIFE looks to be yours!!
and a David Dick married a Margaret Erskine in 1895 Dunfermline which looks hopeful.
And in the ramble I've found a couple of my lot too!!
Best wishes

Hi James
....and welcome to TalkingScot! I took a different approach and searched for ALI* DICK aged 0-5 anywhere in the 1901 census hoping to come up with a list of possibles. The list is quite short....only one contender. I think Lesley has given you the right direction to go in....Dunfermline it is!
Best wishes in your continued searching!

My head is spinning now...but:
David Dick the cloth lapper who married Margaret Erskine 1895. - His parents are David Dick (mason) and Alison Dick m.s. Wright.
David Dick (mason) and Alison formerly Hunter, m.s. Wright, were married 1862 High Church Glasgow. - his parents are James Dick (mason) and Isabella Roxburgh.
So, it does all tie in with the Dick family that I know.
Grief. Got there in the end.
Hope this is some help to you James and I've not confused you too much. I certainly managed to confuse myself in the middle there somewhere!
Best wishes

Hi James
With the info that you have now you can go to ScotlandsPeople website and search for the DC of David DICK. Use a window of 1901 to 1922 since you know he was alive on the 1901 census and dead by 1922. If you narrow up the search area to Dunfermline (location in 1901 census)...you'll have no problem finding him....and then confirming his parents names and whether they were living or dead at the time of his death...and then you can continue.....
Best wishes
