Mackay Family
Hi Bev,
Welcome to TalkingScot.
The only child of James Mackay and Janet Campbell that I can find on the online IGI is
JANE MACKAY: Christening: 06 JAN 1833 Watten, Caithness, Scotland
There is a good chance that she is the sister of your John Mackay. As it looks like John was not recorded on the IGI and hence probably not in the OPRs, then I think you need to be looking at the censuses (especially 1841, 1851, 1861). Your problem is that until they come online indexed (should be during 2005 or 2006) it would be difficult to track them down without knowing for sure where they were.
All the best,
Andrew Paterson
