You are searching in the time frame where a lot of people's genealogical trails disappear. As this couple married in 1770, it is reasonable to assume they were most likely born about 1740-1750, and therefore not likely to have survived to 1855, when you could have found parental information on a death certificate. Even if they survived until the 1841 census, it is reasonable to assume that their parents would be dead - no good information there for you.
Have you viewed the OPR showing this marriage? A small percentage of OPR marriages give some parent information. It's worth your while seeking out this microfilm - is there a Latter Day Saints Family History Centre within reach of you? They can usually order the film in on your behalf for you to view, for a fee.
Otherwise, you may find information on a headstone (in Airth, if they remained there). I don't know if the cemeteries in and around Airth have been indexed.
All the best,
Andrew Paterson

Hello Krissy
John Dewar and Christian Drummond had at least three children born in Torryburn Fife.. so we know that there is a connection to this area.
Have you found the birth record for John Dewar? there is a record of a John Dewar born 15/2/1746 born in Torryburn.
The Family Search IGI have a submission for a Christina Drummond born 9/2/1747 at Cleish Fife (not sure how far away this is from Torryburn).... parents are William Drummond and Elspet Deas Drummond. Could this be your Christian?
researching
McIntyre, Menzies, Cowley, Pearson, Copland, McCammond, Forbes, Edgar etc. in Scotland
Skinner in Northumberland

hi there,
sorry for taking so long to reply to both your msgs thankyou so much for your advice, no i havent looked up john or christians birth records im still trying to confirm that they are the correct family all i have at the moment is that the middle name glen seems to be significant and as james dewars death cert gives the age of 60 when census records should have made him between 70 and 75 it kind of throws you off track but i will keep digging at it and hopefully find him sooner or later, as it stands all we know is that he was born in sterling thats about all the records agree on as for the rest well its still looking for a needle in a haystack
i really do appreciate your help though so again i thankyou and will let you know how i get on
krissy
