Brick wall Alexander Chalmers m Jean Allan.....

Hello. I'm new to this forum and a novice to Scottish records. My ancestors Alexander CHALMERS and Jean ALLAN were married 18 Dec 1835, in Forglen, Banff. Shortly afterwards, they moved to Yorkshire with the family from Forglen House who they worked for.

I know that Alexander's father was also called Alexander (Sandy) and that he was born in Turriff about 1811, according to his second marriage certificate and census records.

Jean died in 1842, in Yorkshire.

I have searched all the records I can find and am totally stuck. Can anyone help me please?

There is a possible birth for your Alexander on the LDS site

Alexander CHALMERS born 3rd May 1813 Deskford, Banff
Fathers name Alexander CHALMERS. No mother named.

Another possibility is your local LDS centre. You are able to view all their records there and may be lucky enough to find his age at time of marriage and perhaps the parents details too.

Amanda, thank you very much. I've just found out there's an LDS centre near to me and I hope to get there tomorrow. I hadn't come across that particular Alexander in the IGI and will check. Pardon my ignorance, is Deskford near Turriff?

Don't know the area myself, but i had a look at Genuki site and couldn't find any mention of Turriff.

Kirktown of Deskford [ to give it it's Sunday name] is just south of Cullen, Turriff would be away to the South East about 15miles as the crow flies.
