:? hi gang totally confused now after all the help you gave chasing james dewar for me i have to announce that i have a copy now of the death cert for him and it seems that he was 60 when he died of old age?in 1855.question? are these certs accurate re dates and if so can anyone do a look up for 1795 as this would have been the correct year still of course linking him to sterling have been on igi and can find none though there is a chrst in 1799 but no birth details can you help me again please

Hi Krissy
I have found quite a few death certs that have the wrong age ... I think you have to look at who registered the death. For Instance a spouse is more likely to know the correct age than a grandson (or even a son).
Have you found James on the 1851 census? you could see if his age agrees with the death cert.
Another point to remember is that not all births/christenings were recorded prior to 1855.
