Martha Christie of Dalkeith.....

Post by Jules » Tue Jun 07, 2005 7:01 pm

Hi I1am trying to confirm the parents of Martha Christie born in Dalkeith about 1827ish.I have her on 1841 census age14 in service so no parents there. In 1851 census just before she married she is a visitor with a 2 year old child She married in Selkirk in 1851 OPRs no parents .She died in 1889 on her death cert her husband left parents names out .But found a George Walker born 1845 in Melrose to Martha Christie and George Walker they never married .In 1851 Melrose census found George Walker with Janet Christie .George was her Grand son .In 1841 Dalkeith census only Christie there were Janet Christie and Peter Christie. There are no Christies in 1851 Dalkeith. Do you think Janet and Peter Christie are the parents of Martha Christie as it is a uncommon name.

Hi Jules.

I guess you've already discarded

31/10/1830 CHRISTIE MARY TAIT ( if Mary can be called Martha )

PETER CHRISTIE/JANET MCMILLAN

Parish: DALKEITH

Jules. I'm wondering where you found her DC as I'm on SP now and can't locate it.

Hi Jules.

That's quite the crowd at 25 Haliburton Place for the Thomson family in the 1881 census:)
