In Memory of Private Wilbert Rice, 75th Battalion, Canadian Infantry, (Central Ontario Regiment). Born July 4th, 1898, Maniwaki, Ontario, Canada. Killed in action south of Sancourt, France on 30 September 1918. Buried at Canada Cemetery, Tilloy-les-Cambrai, France.

It looks like the Canadian and UK Ancestry sites have free access up to and including 12th November, but the Australian one expires on the 11th?
I don’t have any Canadian soldiers in my lot to add to yours. The only WW1 Canadian connection I have is a letter my great grandmother wrote to my grandmother in Sydney, in May 1915, which included:
“There has been a lot of casualties amongst the Australians but the poor Canadians how they suffered and them brutes using them poisonous gasses. Oh this cruel war when will it end.”
I figured she would have been referring to the gas attacks against the Canadians on 24 April, 1915, during the Second Battle of Ypres. She didn’t get to see the end of the war, as she died in 1916, aged 80.
