Three in one lair

Post by anice » Fri Jan 02, 2009 11:59 pm

My gggrandfaher married three time and on his death in Dundee in 1900 his third wife buried him with her first husband he having died in 1891.

Both are buried in Balgay Cemetery, records show she was the proprietor of the lair. There was space and I guess it was financially prudent from her point of view.

Hi Ted

Great story! Glad to read of your progress. It's so worthwhile when you get a chance to get acquainted with unknown family and they all have an interest in the hunt!

Happy New Year backatcha

1942 in American history was not a good year - Pearl Harbour ect and left a lot of people with financial uncertainties bit like now really ! maybe that convinced her even more that three was company not a crowd
Today some bright spark would call it a credit crunch grave.

Great story :!:
Scotland - Donaldson / Moggach / Shaw / Geddes / Sim / Gray / Mackie / Richards / Joel / Coull / Mckimmie / Panton / McGregor
Ireland and Scotland - Casey / McDade / Phillips / McCandle / Dinely / Comaskey + various spellings

Hi Everyone

Whilst it is all very creepy - I do agree that they were probably buried together out of economic necessity rather than any suspicious motives.

However the widow did travel back and forth to Europe a few times (found her on passenger lists) over a couple of decades - maybe the insurance money came in handy !

Regards
